Utility Technician (FMCG) at Seven Up Bottling Company Limited

Seven-Up Bottling Company Limited is one of the largest manufacturing companies in Nigeria, producing and distributing some of the nation’s most- loved beverages in the country like; Pepsi, 7Up, Mirinda, Teem, Mountain Dew, H2oH!, Lipton Ice Tea and Aquafina premium drinking water. SBC has recently entered into Home & Personal Care category with the 2SURE brand and launched its first product, a Hand & Surface Sanitizer. Seven Up boasts of nine bottling plants with state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities strategically located across various regions in the country.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Utility Technician - FMCG

Location: Kano

Job Summary

• The Utility Technician is responsible for the operation, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting of utility equipment such as boilers, compressors, chillers, water treatment plants, and power generation systems.
• The role ensures uninterrupted supply of utilities (steam, compressed air, refrigeration, water, and power) to support efficient production operations in line with company safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities
Operations & Monitoring:

• Operate and monitor utility systems including boilers, air compressors, chillers, water treatment plants, diesel generators, and related equipment.
• Record, track, and interpret readings from gauges, meters, and control panels to ensure utilities operate within specified parameters.
• Ensure consistent supply of utilities to support production with minimal downtime.

Compliance & Safety:

• Adhere strictly to safety, health, and environmental standards in utility operations.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements on boiler operation, water quality, and pressure vessel handling.
• Participate in safety drills and training programs as required.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

• Carry out preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on utility systems as scheduled.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment faults promptly to minimize disruptions to production.
• Support the Utility Engineer in executing planned shutdown maintenance activities.
• Maintain proper housekeeping and ensure equipment is kept in optimal working condition.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate logs of equipment performance, breakdowns, and maintenance activities.
• Report abnormalities, risks, or recurring issues to the Utility Engineer.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by recommending process/equipment improvement.

Requirements

• Candidates should possess an OND / HND in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related Engineering discipline.
• Hands-on knowledge of boilers, compressors, chillers, pumps, and water treatment systems.
• Minimum of 2–4 years’ experience in utility operations and maintenance in FMCG, beverage, or manufacturing industry.
