Job Title: Well Head Technician

Job Description
Wellhead Technician:

  • Technicians form the core of the shift teams on production and processing facilities.
  • They operate and maintain production systems with minimal supervision and with a high degree of competence.
  • They need to understand not just what is happening within a piece of equipment, but also how that equipment affects the working of the overall system, and the effect it has on other related systems.
  • Good diagnostic skills are required to troubleshoot problems.
  • Wellhead Technicians are also required to plan work carefully, communicate effectively with their colleagues, and use information systems both as a source of data and to record what has happened.
  • Production operations involve the management of hydrocarbon soil and gas from the reservoir to the initial customer. This means producing, processing, anddelivering the correct quantity and quality of product, and ensuring that all the production systems are operating in the most efficient way.

The production systems are divided into the following subsystems:

  • Drilling Platforms/ Wellheads
  • Oil Process.
  • Gas Process.
  • Power
  • Utilities
  • Water Flood

Accountabilities

  • To maintain close liaison with the CRO to perform operational actions requested by the CRO, giving due regard to the CRO's role as plant co-ordinator.
  • The technician responsible for drilling platform and RP-A is to make rational a s s e s s m e n t s of relative priorities whilst performing work. If clashes of priority occur, He or She is to inform the supervisor with proposals for alternative action.
  • To verify that key adjustable operating parameters in the Drilling platform and RP-A facilities and systems are optimised, to identify problems in the processes and to take appropriate corrective action.
  • To operate the drilling platform/Wellheads and RP-A systems. To perform operational duties in accordance with the manufacturers' instructions and to ensure optimum performance is maintained. To identify deviations from optimum operating parameters and to take corrective action.
  • To maintain a daily handover log of significant events in the areas of responsibility, and to perform a verbal on-the-job handover with the oncoming technician, to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Take Plant logs to be taken once per shift.
  • To take stock of chemicals used in the drilling platforms and ensure continuous injection.
  • To verify that stock available is above the advised minimum stock, and to notify the MS as required. To investigate a naconeurligner deviations
  • Coordinate daily drilling platforms and RP-A movement to and from the FPSO with the personnel carrier
  • To verify that key adjustable operating parameters in the hydraulic and chemical injection systems are optimised, to identify problems in the processes and to take appropriate corrective action
  • To ensure that all well data is captured/logs are kept up-to-date and any well deviations are fully documented.
  • Ensure Wellhead valves, SSSV and associated equipment and maintained and operating within the operating window.
  • To maintain required knowledge (in accordance with the new competency assessment and analysis system) of all Installation general safety and environmental regulations, and of those specific to the technician's tasks and areas of responsibility. To maintain competency in the skills required to perform tasks safely. To identify additional training requirements and to discuss these with the supervisor.

Health Safety and Environment:

  • Be fully familiar with SPDC HSE policies and ensure compliance.
  • Fulfil all Emergency Response duties, as required.
  • Be fully aware of the installation Safety Case

Cost/Profit:

  • Monitor and effectively control consumption of materials and consumables associated with production in area of responsibility.

Operational Integrity:

  • Maintain a vigilant lookout for faults on installation safety systems and process plant to ensure issues are captured and rectified in the shortest possible timescale.
  • To act as a member of the Operations Support Team in
  • Emergency Response situations, as and when required.
  • Proving competency using the VQ Competence
  • Framework will be as crucial as understanding the impact that Operations has on personnel, as defined in the Safety Case
  • Maintain required knowledge of all field safety and environmental regulations and operating procedures and maintain competency in the skills required to carry out the assigned role safely and efficiently.
