Network Administrator Requirements, Skills & Qualifications

The following common skills and qualifications are required of a Network Administrator:

  • BSc. degree in Computer Science or similar relevant field
  • Previous working experience as a Network Administrator for (x) year(s)
  • Any additional relevant certification (Juniper, Cisco, CWNA or BCNE) will be considered an advantage
  • Hands on experience in networking, routing and switching
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Analytical thinker and problem solver
  • In depth knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure
  • Applicable experience with firewalls, Internet VPN’s remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution 
  • Attention to details
