KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation is an international non-profit organization dedicated to the fight against tuberculosis (TB), still the deadliest infectious disease in the world. KNCV is an international center of expertise for TB control that promotes effective, efficient, innovative and sustainable TB control strategies in a national and international context.  We are an organization of passionate TB professionals, including doctors, researchers, training experts, nurses and epidemiologists. We aim to stop the spread of the worldwide epidemic of TB and to prevent the further spread of drug-resistant TB.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: Account Officer

Location: Nasarawa
Job Type: Full-time

Purpose of the Job

  • The Finance Unit is responsible for the timely, complete, and accurate registration of transactions in the accounting system of KNCV Nigeria and related legal entities and for reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Furthermore, the Unit develops and supports the financial management system by operating an effective and efficient planning and control cycle, by designing and maintaining the administrative workflows and internal control procedures, and by implementing and maintaining relevant IT applications.
  • The Account Officer keeps accurate, complete and update office records for KNCV country office, and assists the Finance manager with monitoring of the balance sheet and the supply of relevant information to internal stakeholders. The Account officer also provides general support to the senior accountant at the central office in Abuja.
  • The Account Officer – Nasarawa Reports technically to the Finance Manager while reporting to the Senior Program Manager for administrative and operations functions within the  Nasarawa cluster.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Checks and assigns codes to all financial documents.
  • Enter all financial documents into the accounting system.
  • Prepare and process payments in the banking system.
  • Monitor all advance accounts and reports of outstanding balances to the Abuja office on a regular basis.
  • Ensure that all project incurred expenses are timely paid, documented and filed.
  • Assist in the annual audit process and related activities.
  • Maintains inventory list of all KNCV Nigeria Assets.
  • Provide a schedule of balance sheet specifications relating to the cluster at the end of the month.
  • Develops and maintains an effective professional relationship with KNCV’s Nigeria local banking institutions.
  • Ensures compliance with all US Government (USG) and KNCV Nigeria financial management and accounting policies and regulations.
  • Engages in financial and related tasks as required by the finance manager, senior program manager, and director of finance and operations.
  • Ensure adherence to all major financial rules and regulations which are described in the KNCV Finance Manual and other appropriate policies.
  • Oversee procurement process on regional level
  • Reconcile bank statements with organizational accounts.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Process payments and ensure proper documentation.
  • Process vendor payments and manage accounts payable.
  • Ensure timely settlement of financial obligations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and donor regulations.
  • Support internal and external audit processes.
  • Track monthly expenses at the cluster level using the approved state implementation plan (SIP).
  • Perform other additional duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Possession of ICAN or ACCA is preferable.
  • knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 is an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years of experience in finance management, accounting, and working in a project setting is preferable.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work in a dynamic, solid, and open.
  • Must be flexible with absolute integrity, organizational awareness, and understanding of cultural differences.
  • Have a high sense of integrity and transparency.
  • Ability to manage official information in a confidential manner.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrable experience with accounting and financial reporting in USG-supported projects
  • Knowledge of relevant accounting software systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, approachable, and a good listener.
  • Exhibits a high level of accuracy in work and the ability to analyze complex sets of relationships and situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal English language ability.
