Job Title: Building and Facility Inspector

Location: Lagos
Job Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Building and Facility Inspector will be responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of building facilities within the organization.
  • This role involves inspecting electrical systems, wiring, equipment, computer connections, air conditioning units, appliances, generators, and plumbing to identify potential hazards.
  • The inspector will work under the direction of HSE management to ensure a safe working environment.

Job Description

  • Technical background with hands-on experience in building maintenance and facility inspections.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, air conditioning units, appliances, generators, and plumbing.
  • Good communication and interpersonal / collaborative skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily/regular inspections of building facilities to identify hazards related to
  • electrical systems, wiring, computer connections, air conditioning units, appliances, generators, and plumbing.
  • Ensure compliance with facilities maintenance policy including building and safety regulations and standards.
  • Report findings promptly and provide recommendations for corrective actions to HSE management.
  • Continuous monitoring of corrective actions is required to ensure timely close-out.
  • Ensure Hazards are identified, assessed, and managed on all projects.
  • Keep up with a regular schedule of building/facility maintenance and repairs before anything becomes a safety hazard.
  • Maintain and update HSE action database daily.
  • Ensure Permit to Work procedures are followed and monitored at all times
  • Assist in incident investigations when required
  • Comply and ensure compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures of the organization.
  • Develop HSE inspection schedules and monitor their implementation.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections and follow-up actions.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and facility teams to address identified hazards.
  • Participate in maintenance standards and safety training and awareness programs for staff.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes related to building and facility safety standards.
  • Perform any other activities delegated from time to time.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree from the Institute of Safety Professionals in Port Harcourt, a
  • Polytechnic, or a Trade School.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a corporate environment is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications from recognized safety institutions are a plus.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in building and facility inspection or a related field.
