Job Title: Cost Manager

Location: Lagos

Job Summary

  • The Cost Manager is responsible for planning, monitoring, and controlling production and operational costs to ensure efficient use of resources and improved profitability.
  • The role involves analyzing cost structures, implementing cost-reduction strategies, and supporting management with accurate financial insights for decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain cost control systems for manufacturing operations.
  • Monitor raw material, labor, overhead, and production expenses to ensure budget compliance.
  • Prepare and analyze cost reports, variance analysis, and performance summaries.
  • Ensure accurate product costing and pricing structures.
  • Review inventory levels and minimize waste, losses, and inefficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide management with timely and reliable financial insights.
  • Support audits and financial reviews related to cost management.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend process improvements.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Work closely with production, procurement, and warehouse teams to optimize resource usage.
  • Evaluate suppliers’ pricing and support negotiation processes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, CIMA) is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in FMCG or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • 4 - 6 years’ experience in cost management or manufacturing finance.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting and financial analysis.
