Director of Finance and Administration at Global Peace Development (GPD)


Global Peace Development (GPD) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) founded in April 2002 and focuses on promoting peace for development in Nigeria. The organization envisions a country where peace and development is enjoyed by all. GPD seeks to build peace, gender equality, social justice, and foster democracy and governance at the community, local, state, and national levels.

GPD’s Core Programmatic Areas include: Gender Justice, Conflict Prevention and Peace Building, Democracy and Governance, Environment and Climate Change, Livelihood and Community Development, WASH and Health, and Education Protection. Global Peace Development works actively in twelve (12) States across Nigeria (namely, FCT, Adamawa, Taraba, Sokoto, Yobe, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Kano, Ebonyi, Enugu, Cross River, Delta, and Edo).

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: Director of Finance and Administration

Location: Garki, Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Contract

Job Summary

  • The Director of Finance and Administration will provide strategic financial leadership, ensuring the effective management of financial resources, compliance with donor regulations, and operational efficiency within the organization.
  • The role involves overseeing budgeting, financial reporting, procurement, human resources, and administrative functions to support GPD’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management and Compliance:
    • Develop and implement financial policies, controls, and procedures in line with donor and regulatory requirements.
    • Prepare and oversee annual budgets, financial reports, payroll, payee, and cash flow management.
    • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to donors, and the Board of Trustees.
    • Conduct financial risk assessments and audits to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Administration & Operations:
    • Oversee procurement, ass et management, and logistics to support program implementation.
    • Ensure compliance with tax regulatory bodies in GPD states.
    • Manage relationship s with banks, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Human Resource Management:
    • Lead the development  and implementation of all policies, recruitment, on boarding, staff development, and performance management.
    • Ensure proper payroll computation.
    • Manage staff welf are and benefit.
  • Partnership & Donor Relations:
    • Ensure compliance w ith grant agreements and donor financial reporting requirements.
    • Support fundraisi ng efforts through financial planning and budgeting for proposals.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4 – 5 years of experience in financial management, administration, and HR within an NGO or donor-funded organization.
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, or CPA is required.
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, and SAGE).
