Job Title: Factory Safety Officer

Location: Awka, Anambra

Job Description 

• We are looking to hire an experienced safety officer to maintain a safe, industrial working environment in an aluminum extrusion factory.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Stay updated on a federal, state, and local health, safety and industrial regulations.
• Ensure installations, operations and maintenance of machines follow all safety protocols.
• Ensure accurate health, industrial hygiene & safety and trainings records are kept.
• Train employees on use of fire extinguisher and administering first aid measures.
• Responsible for factory hygiene, waste management.
• Ensure safe handling, proper labeling and storage of hazardous substances.
• Create factory safety protocols to identify, prevent, and manage work-related injuries and illnesses.
• Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation.
• Educate staff and factory workers on the health and safety programs.
• Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety policies for all factory personnel.
• Enforce the use of personal protective equipment.
• Must have knowledge of machine safety guidelines.

 Requirements

• Minimum of HND in related fields.
• Completion of NYSC program (compulsory).
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics.
• Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (NEBOSH) or OSHA (compulsory)
• ISPON membership or membership of other professional health and safety body will be an added advantage.
• At least 5 years experience as safety officer.
• Proficient with PowerPoint to create slides and presentations.
• In depth knowledge of legislation and procedures (e.g., OSHA/EPA/ ISO).
• Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety.
• Outstanding organizational skills.
• Diligent with great attention to detail.

Salary
N80,000 - N100,000 / month.
