Welcome2Africa International is a private sector development company headquartered in London, United Kingdom Founded in 2012 with the vision to redefine the image of Africa, Welcome2Africa specialises in catalysing investment interest in the continent, with a current focus on agribusiness. The private sector has long been acknowledged as the engine of economic growth. Yet, the sector is largely under-developed or informal in many African countries. Compounding this problem, the financial sector also tends to be under-developed across the continent, leaving many segments of the population, including entrepreneurs, under-served or un-served altogether.

Due to limited budgets, governments are often unable to effectively intervene to correct this market failure. Welcome2Africa works with, and mobilises investment from a variety of actors, including local as well as international commercial and corporate banks,development finance institutions, aid agencies, foundations, impact investors, private equity firms and more.

Job Title: Finance Analyst

Location: Abuja

Job Summary

  • The finance department assumes responsibility for managing and reporting the organization’s finances. It is committed to continuous improvements in the way it organizes the financial and accounting affairs, including the preparation and presentation of appropriate accounts and the dissemination of financial information to executives.
  • The primary function of this position is to provide support for the ongoing accounting functions that include preparing reconciliations, payment processing and maintenance of accounts receivable spreadsheets.

Job Description

  • Overall responsibility and key contact for the strategic planning, implementation, managing and running of all the finance activities of a company, including business planning, budgeting, forecasting, risk and governance as well as negotiations
  • Provide analysis of trends and forecasts and recommend actions for optimization
  • Perform market research, data mining, business intelligence, to help the company make informed decision, including pricing, bonus, etc
  • Engaging and follow up with debtors and creditors
  • Support Fund-raising for the organisation and propose suggestions and recommendations
  • Guide revenue generation based on historical and market information
  • Analysing investment opportunities for W2A to consider
  • Advising on long and short-term business and financial planning
  • Provide commercial insight and leadership across the business in order to exceed business plan targets
  • Provide analytical, forecasting, reporting, Everything relating to cash flow, financial planning, and taxation issues.
  • Produce reports, which include key metrics, financial results, and variance reporting, weekly, monthly and as when requested
  • Identify and implement opportunities for financial improvement across the organization
  • Analyze financial data and create/propose financial models for decision support
  • Guide the process by developing, establishing and enforcing policies and procedures

Job Requirements

  • 2 - 4 years of relevant work experience
  • Post-secondary Education in Finance, Economics, or Accounting.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • High degree of professionalism in dealing with diverse groups of people.
  • Experience using Quick Books, Tableau, Power BI and Zoho Expense would be considered an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Strong sense of urgency to complete tasks.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Make appropriate informed decisions, regarding priorities and available time
  • Resourceful, can-do attitude
