Job Title: Financial Accountant & Controller

The Position

  • Your main responsibilities as Financial Accountant and Controller will be to own and drive the financial accounts of Novo Nordisk Pharma Limited while supporting our colleagues throughout Western Africa on financial matters.
  • You will be responsible for proper and correct bookkeeping, core financial processes and maintaining house in order through strong internal controls.
  • You will ensure full compliance with accounting standards and tax regulation for the company and be responsible for preparation of our audited financial statements.
  • You will collaborate with internal colleagues across Africa and our strong business support team in Bangalore India but also build and maintain good relationship with external auditors, tax advisors and our commercial bank.
  • Importantly you will also be responsible for identifying opportunities to improve our financial processes to increase efficiency, accuracy and control.
  • You will also act as a financial sparring partner to the Head of Finance and Operations (based in Nairobi, Kenya) and the Business Unit Head for English West Africa (based in Lagos, Nigeria).

Qualifications

  • You hold a relevant Degree in Accounting or a closely related field and a professional accounting certification (ACA, ACCA, CMA, CPA).
  • You have at least three years of experience in accounting/controlling, preferably at a multinational company.
  • You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • You are a team player, but at the same time possess independent drive and have a can-do mindset.
  • We expect that you are fluent in oral and written English.
  • You are well advanced in managing the P&L and balance sheet of a company and have strong knowledge of GAAP, Nigerian accounting and tax regulations.
  • You have a strong compliance mindset and thorough experience in developing and managing internal controls. Solid experience with SAP is an advantage.
