Job Title: Health And Safety Officer

Location: Ebonyi

Job Overview

  • As a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the organization's compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and promoting a culture of safety among employees. You will develop and implement HSE policies, conduct risk assessments, provide training, and monitor safety performance.
  • Your role will be crucial in safeguarding the well-being of employees and protecting the environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive HSE policies and procedures in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and inspections of the workplace to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with department heads and employees to create a safety-conscious work environment and raise awareness about HSE best practices.
  • Provide advice and guidance on HSE matters to management and employees, ensuring their understanding and compliance.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine the root cause and develop preventive measures to avoid similar occurrences.
  • Promote environmental sustainability initiatives and encourage responsible waste management practices.
  • Participate in the selection and approval process of safety equipment and personal protective gear.
  • Assist in the procurement and maintenance of safety-related equipment and tools.
  • Encourage a proactive safety culture by recognizing and rewarding safe behaviors and achievements.
  • Maintain records of all HSE-related incidents, ensuring accuracy and completeness for reporting and analysis.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of HSE programs and initiatives, making recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Organize and conduct safety training sessions for employees, addressing topics such as emergency response, equipment operation, and workplace ergonomics.
  • Manage and coordinate emergency response procedures, including fire drills and evacuation plans.
  • Liaise with external regulatory agencies and participate in HSE audits and inspections as required.
  • Keep abreast of industry developments, trends, and changes in HSE regulations, updating internal policies accordingly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an HSE Officer or similar role in a corporate setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.
  • Familiarity with conducting risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

Salary Range
N150,000 - N200,000 / Month
