Job Description

We are a fast-growing startup supermarket based in Gwarinpa, Abuja, seeking a skilled and proactive  HR Officer with a legal background to join our team. This role combines HR operations with legal compliance to ensure smooth, lawful, and efficient people management.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and staff documentation
• Draft and implement HR policies, employment contracts, and workplace procedures
• Ensure compliance with Nigerian labor laws and retail industry standards
• Manage employee relations, handle grievances, and oversee disciplinary procedures
• Provide legal advice to management on employment-related matters
• Coordinate staff training and foster a positive, engaged workplace culture
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR records and reports
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Operations Manager

 Requirements 

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Law, or a related field (Postgraduate in HRM is a plus)
• 2–5 years of HR experience, with proven experience in the retail sector
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian labor law and HR best practices
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and organizational skills
• High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, startup environment
