The U.S. Mission to Nigeria comprises of the Embassy in Abuja, FCT, and the Consulate General in Lagos. U.S. Consulate General Lagos is the Mission’s representative to the Nigerian people in the southern region.

Summary

  • The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)

Duties

  • The position will be the customer service provider for all walk-ins to the HR section as well as answering phone inquiries transferred by the switchboard.
  • Incumbent provides general office support including but not limited to handling paper flow, preparing routine documents, and assuring that information is properly shared between different sub-sections of the HR office.  
  • Assists with training, presentation, various Human Resources programs and performs assigned administrative duties, including maintenance of subject files, ordering office supplies.  
  • Assists with the preparation of reports on various Human Resources issues and special projects like the Awards.
  • Answers general HR related queries from external visitors and callers, coordinates logistics for official visits and representational events.
  • The incumbent assists with local employee recruitment and the provision of employee services to serviced sections and agencies.  

Qualifications and Evaluations
Education Requirements:

  • Two (2) years of general college studies is required.

Experience:  

  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Human Resources field or general office administration work is required.

Job Knowledge:  

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook, and Internet) is required.
  • Must be organized, diligent and able to work under pressure.
  • Good interpersonal relationships are required.
  • Must be able to do good math skills to perform final benefit calculations.
  • Must have excellent customer service and communication skills to manage in-person and telephone contacts.

Evaluations:

  • This may be tested. Please specify your level of proficiency in the language listed.

Language:

  • Fluency in reading/writing/speaking of English is required.  

Skills and Abilities:  

  • Knowledge of office administration procedures; ordering office supplies and equipment, arranging travel and completing/submitting travel vouchers is required. Basic knowledge of the host country laws pertaining to personnel functions performed is required.

Agency Benefits:

  • Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Abuja, Nigeria may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
  • For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
  • The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
