Job Title: Irrigation Engineer

Location: Jigawa

Job Overview

• We are seeking for a highly motivated Irrigation Engineer to join our team of experts in the wheat cultivation project Abunabo in Jigawa State, Nigeria.
• The Irrigation Engineer under the supervision of the project manager will support the overall irrigation and drainage management component of the project and will be expected to perform the following key functions:

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze soil type, drainage and conservation problems; climate characteristics; water supply and flow; and other environmental conditions to identify engineering problems and assess the project’s potential impact.
• Monitor project site progress and ensure compliance with design specifications and environmental, safety, and other government regulations.
• Review environmental assessments, survey reports, maps, drawings, and other topographical and geologic data.
• Design efficient and cost-effective irrigation systems that meet all requirements.
• Prepare site plans, specifications, cost estimates and environmental impact assessment.
• Prepare project plans for the distribution of water

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Irrigation Engineering or related field
• Five years of irrigation experience is required; field experience in agriculture irrigation installation is preferred.

Skills:

• Strong analytical, decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficiency in geographic information systems (GIS) software.
