Ganfeng Lithium Industry Limited is amining company engaged in the exploration, mining, and processing of lithium. With a strong presence across the country, the company operates branches in Lagos, Abuja, and Nasarawa.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Safety Officer

Location: Keffi, Nasarawa
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Purpose

• The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of all employees, contractors, and visitors on the mining site.
• The role involves monitoring compliance with safety regulations, conducting risk assessments, training workers on safe practices, and ensuring adherence to mining industry safety standards and government regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and enforce site-specific Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures.
• Conduct daily site inspections and hazard identification, ensuring corrective actions are taken.
• Coordinate emergency response plans and organize drills specific to mining hazards (e.g., fire, collapse, toxic gas exposure).
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of explosives, chemicals, and hazardous materials.
• Maintain safety records, permits, and regulatory documentation.
• Liaise with government regulators, inspectors, and external auditors as required.
• Promote a strong safety culture through continuous awareness and enforcement.
• Monitor mining operations to ensure compliance with safety standards and use of PPE.
• Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses on-site; prepare reports and recommend preventive measures.
• Conduct risk assessments for blasting, drilling, hauling, and other mining activities.
• Provide safety induction and toolbox talks to employees, contractors, and visitors.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Mining Engineering, or related field.
• Strong observational, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to train, influence, and enforce compliance among workers at all levels.
• Physically fit and able to work in demanding and hazardous environments.
• Professional HSE certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, ISPON) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 2 – 5 years proven experience as a Safety Officer in mining or heavy industry.
• In-depth knowledge of mining safety regulations, occupational health standards, and emergency response.

Salary
N200,000 monthly.
