Qualifications and Requirements

All candidates applying for positions in Anatomy, Physiology, Medical Biochemistry, Community Medicine, Chemical Pathology, Morbid Anatomy and Histopathology, Haematology and Blood transfusion, Medical Microbiology and Parasitology, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Ear Nose and Throat, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry and Radiology must possess MBBS plus Fellowship or MBBS with MSc and PhD degrees as applicable.
 

1.       Professor

• The candidate must possess a good first degree, not below second-class lower division, from a reputable University and a master’s and PhD degree (or MBBS plus PhD/Fellowship) in the appropriate discipline. 
• The candidates must have spent at least 12 years of cognate experience teaching and conducting research in a recognised and reputable University. 
• In addition, the candidate must have published at least twenty- six articles in reputable local and international outlets acceptable to the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun, of which at least 40% must be offshore, and the candidate should be a lead author in about 40% of the publications. 
• The applicant should have demonstrated good teamwork and leadership skills in the university system. 
• The applicant must have good citations, an H-index, and an i10-index in Google Scholar. 
• The applicants must have spent at least 3 years as a Reader in recognised Universities. 
• Candidates with verifiable records of winning research grants as Principal Investigators will stand at an advantage.

2. Associate Professor/ Reader 

• The candidate must possess a good first degree, not below second class lower division, from a reputable University and a master’s and PhD degree (or MBBS plus PhD/Fellowship) in the appropriate discipline. 
• The candidates must have spent at least 9 years of cognate experience teaching and conducting research in a recognised and reputable University. 
• In addition, the candidate must have published at least twenty- two articles in reputable local and international outlets acceptable to the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun, of which at least 40% must be offshore, and the candidate should be a lead author in about 40% of the publications. 
• The applicant should have demonstrated good teamwork and leadership skills in the university system. 
• The applicant must have good citations, an H-index, and an i10-index in Google Scholar. 
• The applicants must have spent at least 3 years as a Senior Lecturer in a recognised University. 
• Candidates with verifiable records of winning research grants as Principal Investigators will stand at an advantage.

3. Senior Lecturer

• The candidate must possess a good first degree, not below second class lower division, from a reputable University and a master’s and PhD degree (or MBBS plus PhD/Fellowship) in the appropriate discipline. 
• In addition, the candidate must have published at least fifteen articles in reputable local and international outlets acceptable to the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun, of which at least 30% must be offshore, and the candidate should be a lead author in about 30% of the publications. 
• The applicant should have demonstrated good teamwork and leadership skills in the university system. 
• The applicant must have good Citations, H-index and i10-index in Google Scholar. 
• The applicants must have spent at least 3 years as Lecturer 1 in a recognised University. 
• Candidates with verifiable records of having won research grants as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator will stand at an advantage.

4. Lecturer I

• The candidate must possess a good first degree, not below second class lower division, from a reputable University and a master’s and PhD degree (or MBBS plus PhD/Fellowship) in the appropriate discipline. 
• In addition, the candidate must have published at least eight articles in reputable local and international outlets acceptable to the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun, except for holders of MBBS plus PhD/ Fellowship. 
• The applicant must have active accounts in Google Scholar. Research Gate and Scopus. Except for MBBS plus PhD/ Fellowship holders, the applicants must have spent at least 3 years as a Lecturer II in a recognised University.

5. Lecturer II

• The candidate must possess a good first degree, not below second class lower division, from a reputable University and a PhD degree in the appropriate discipline. 
• The holder of a Master’s degree plus a recognised professional certificate/licence in the appropriate discipline will also be considered. 
• The applicant must have active Google Scholar, Research Gate and Scopus accounts. 
• Acceptable articles in reputable journals would be an added advantage.

6. Assistant Lecturer

• The candidate must possess a good first degree, not below second class lower division, from a reputable University and a master’s degree in the appropriate discipline.

7. Technologist I/II and Clinical Instructor

• The candidate must possess a good first degree, not below second class lower division or Higher National Diploma (HND) from a reputable University/Institution. 
• The applicant must also possess a current practice licence from the relevant Council/ Regulatory Board.
