The U.S. Mission to Nigeria comprises of the Embassy in Abuja, FCT, and the Consulate General in Lagos. U.S. Consulate General Lagos is the Mission’s representative to the Nigerian people in the southern region.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Summary

  • The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (48 hours per week)

Basic Function

  • The Airport Expeditor performs general expeditor services of all U.S Agencies personnel represented at post including their dependents, U.S. Grantees, TDY and VIP visitors.  

Qualifications and Evaluations
Education Requirements:

  • Completion of two (2) years of university studies is required.

Experience:  

  • Minimum of four (4) years progressively responsible office or clerical experience is required.

Job Knowledge:  

  • Knowledge of Nigerian immigration rules and custom regulations is required. Familiarity with airlines check in procedures is required.
  • Expert knowledge of the job details and accurate knowledge of USG security requirement is required.
  • Knowledge of current U.S. Mission to Nigeria security procedures to/from the airports is required.

Evaluations:

  • This may be tested. Please specify the level of your proficiency in the language listed.

Language:

  • Good working knowledge of speaking/reading/writing in English Language is required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Computers skills and familiarity with windows, Microsoft word processing and spread sheet programs is required.
  • Must be tactful yet effective, in dealing with American personnel.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers.
  • Must have good driving skills with valid Nigeria driver's license for a minimum of five (5) years.
  • Must be able to lift not more than 50lb.
  • Must have strong drafting skills to draft correspondence to Embassies, airlines and hotels. Must be able to use Embassy radio network.
  • Must be able to interact professionally with aggressive individuals sometimes.
  • Must have level 1 typing ability (less than 5 words per minute).

Agency Benefits:

  • Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Abuja, Nigeria may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
  • For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
  • The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
