Job Description

• The Android Engineer plays a pivotal role in designing, developing, and scaling high-performance Android applications that serve millions of users.
• This position involves full ownership of the mobile app development lifecycle—from prototyping and optimization to launch and iteration—while adhering to best-in-class coding standards and industry practices.
• The Engineer is responsible for building modular, maintainable, and scalable architecture, integrating advanced Android APIs, and driving innovation through proprietary SDKs and cutting-edge features.

Responsibilities

• Faster time-to-market and continuous product improvement: Exposed to entire development lifecycle as you prototype, create, optimise, test, launch, and refine the Airtel Android Apps.
• Future-proof, maintainable codebase with high reusability: Play a critical role in ensuring modular and scalable design and architecture of Android Apps. Keeping up to date with best industry practices and lead adopting new technologies.
• High team velocity and seamless cross-functional collaboration: Work with fellow designers and developers in an iterative environment with short and impactful development cycles.
• Efficient code reuse and reduced development time for new apps: Develop cutting edge functional modules that will be integrated across all our Android apps.
• Strategic partnerships enabled through robust technical infrastructure: Build proprietary SDKs to enable partnerships with other industry leaders.
• Culture of creativity and problem-solving within the team: Brainstorm, contribute new ideas, conceive innovative strategies, and implement solutions to difficult problems.

Requirements
Educational Qualifications: 

• 5+ years’ experience  developing large scale Android applications
• Demonstrable knowledge of relational database i.e. Oracle, Sql, MySQL
• Knowledge of popular Android frameworks Espresso, RxJ ava, Retrofit, Dagger, Jetpack, Firebase
• Command of memory management, view hierarchy, battery optimization and in-depth experience with multithreaded and networked applications 

Relevant Experience:

• Worked with RESTful APIs, third-party SDK integrations and common technologies like HTTPS, JSON, OAuth and SQL. 
• Ability to collaborate and drive results cross-team, ina complex working environment
• Experience working in a cross-functional Agile team. 
• Care for quality with an obsession for performance and willingness to spend time testing the team's work, as well as yours.
• Proficiency in Kotlin (preferred) and Java
• Experience developing backend services – RESTful APIs, GraphQL will be a big plus 
• Experience working with A/B testing, Event frameworks will be a plus.
