Job Title: Backend Developer

Locations: Ibadan - Oyo and Lagos 
Employment Type: Full-time

Role Overview

• We are seeking a skilled Backend Developer to design, implement, and maintain server-side logic, databases, and APIs that power our web and mobile applications.
• The ideal candidate will ensure the stability, scalability, and performance of our systems while collaborating closely with frontend and mobile teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize backend systems, APIs, and services.
• Collaborate with frontend and mobile teams to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
• Stay updated with emerging backend technologies and best practices.
• Document backend processes, APIs, and workflows.
• Design and manage relational and non-relational databases.
• Ensure the security, scalability, and performance of applications.
• Implement automated testing and maintain CI/CD pipelines.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of professional experience in backend development.
• Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and serverless architectures.
• Understanding of security best practices and authentication mechanisms (OAuth, JWT).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to write clean, modular, and maintainable code.
• Proficiency in backend languages such as Node.js, Python, Java, Ruby, or Go.
• Experience with database technologies: SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis).
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and API integration.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with microservices and event-driven architecture.
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and DevOps practices.
• Exposure to Agile/Scrum development methodology.
• Experience in fintech, healthtech, or other impact-driven sectors.
