Job Title: Human Resource Specialist II

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

  • We are seeking a skilled HR Specialist II who, under general supervision, will support the delivery of effective HR solutions that enable the workforce to perform optimally in a dynamic Oil & Gas environment.
  • The role supports the attraction, retention, development, and engagement of talent in line with business objectives, operational demands, and regulatory requirements typical of the Oil & Gas industry.
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong HR fundamentals, comfort working with data and numbers, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.

Job Duties

  • Collaborate with business leaders, HR partners, and cross-functional stakeholders to design, execute, and continuously improve HR programs, tools, and processes.
  • Develop working knowledge and subject matter expertise in one or more HR disciplines, including:
    • Compensation & Benefits
    • Global Mobility / International HR
    • Employee Relations
    • Talent Acquisition
    • Learning & Development
    • HR Operations and HR Information Systems
  • Support the delivery of HR policies and programs in alignment with global standards, local labour laws, and Oil & Gas industry practices.
  • Support employee lifecycle processes including onboarding, transfers, promotions, exits, and compliance documentation.
  • Assist with payroll, compensation, benefits administration, and audits, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Support employee relations matters, including grievances, investigations, and performance management, while maintaining confidentiality and fairness.
  • Contribute to initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, safety culture, and overall employee experience in an operational Oil & Gas setting.
  • Participate in periodic audits of HR processes to ensure compliance with company policies, labour laws, and industry standards.
  • Analyze HR data (headcount, attrition, compensation, workforce planning, compliance metrics) and prepare reports to support informed decision-making.
  • Apply strong numerical and analytical skills, including the use of Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis), to interpret trends and provide insights.
  • Support workforce planning activities, including hiring, redeployment, succession planning, and resource optimization.
  • Provide guidance to employees and supervisors on HR policies, procedures, and disciplinary processes in line with company and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide HR advisory support to management on people-related matters and workforce initiatives.
  • Support effective onboarding and induction of new hires, including Oil & Gas-specific compliance and orientation requirements.
  • Assist in recruitment activities, workforce coordination, and employee welfare administration.
  • Support salary reviews, incentive programs, and reward mechanisms in line with compensation frameworks.
  • Maintain accurate HR records and ensure data integrity within HR systems.
  • Support the preservation and development of human capital in line with global best practices and business needs.
  • Support training needs analysis and coordination of technical and non-technical training programs.
  • Act as a bridge between management and employees on performance, conduct, and engagement matters.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably within Oil & Gas, energy, engineering, or industrial environments.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound judgment, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
  • High ethical standards, professionalism, and ability to handle sensitive information.
  • Master’s degree and/or professional HR certification (CIPM, SHRM, CIPD) is an advantage.
  • Solid understanding of core HR functions including recruitment, compensation, benefits, employee relations, and learning & development.
  • Strong knowledge of labour laws, disciplinary procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong numerical and analytical capability, with demonstrated proficiency in Excel and HR data analysis.
  • Experience working with HRIS and digital HR tools is required.
