The Pan African University (PAU) is a flagship Institution of the African Union Commission, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This was the culmination of the decision of the Assembly of Heads of State and Governments of the African Union to create the Pan African University (EX.CL/579(XVII).  It has five Institutes namely Life and Earth Sciences (including Health and Agriculture) at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria; Governance, Humanities, and Social Sciences at University of Yaoundé II, Cameroon; Science, Technology and Innovation at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Kenya; Water and Energy (including Climatic change) at University Tlemcen, Algeria and the Institute of Space Sciences, South Africa.

Job Summary

• The Cafeteria Manager will oversee the daily operations of the cafeteria, ensuring high-quality food service, exceptional customer satisfaction, and a welcoming environment for all patrons.
• This role involves managing kitchen and dining staff, maintaining hygiene and safety standards, and ensuring efficient inventory and cost control.
• The Cafeteria Manager will also foster inclusivity by accommodating diverse dietary preferences and creating an environment where everyone feels valued.

Job Description

• Operations Management: Plan, organize, and oversee daily cafeteria operations, including meal preparation and service for events.
• Staff Management: Recruit, train, and supervise cafeteria staff, ensuring optimal performance and adequate shift coverage.
• Budget and Financial Oversight: Monitor cafeteria expenses, analyze sales data, and implement cost-saving measures to stay within budget.
• Customer Service: Ensure a high standard of customer service by addressing feedback and resolving complaints promptly.
• Health and Safety Compliance: Enforce health, safety, and sanitation regulations, conducting regular inspections and staff training.
• Administrative Duties: Maintain records on sales, inventory, and staff performance, preparing reports on operational efficiency and profitability.
• Menu Planning: Develop menus that align with customer preferences and nutritional standards, ensuring compliance with safety and hygiene regulations.
• Inventory and Procurement: Manage inventory levels, coordinate with the procurement team for supplies, and conduct regular stock checks.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualification – HND or BSc in Hospitality Management, Hotel and Catering Management, or other related field.
• Professional certification is an added advantage.
