Job Title: Tax and Auditor Manager

Job Summary

• The Tax and Audit Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization’s tax planning, compliance, and audit activities.
• The role ensures that all tax filings are accurate and timely, internal controls are in place, and financial records comply with statutory regulations.
• This position also plays a strategic role in risk management and process improvement within the financial reporting structure.

Key Responsibilities
Tax Management:

• Ensure timely and accurate filing of all statutory taxes (PAYE, VAT, CIT, WHT, etc.)
• Maintain tax risk register and implement strategies to reduce exposure.
• Prepare tax provisions and support financial reporting with appropriate tax entries.
• Advise management on the tax implications of business decisions and strategies.
• Manage tax planning and compliance in line with current tax laws and regulations.
• Liaise with tax consultants and regulatory bodies such as FIRS, LIRS, and state tax authorities.

Audit Management:

• Plan and execute internal audits across departments to ensure process compliance and operational effectiveness.
• Develop and update internal audit programs and procedures.
• Prepare audit reports and present findings to senior management.
• Coordinate and manage external audits and resolve audit queries promptly.
• Evaluate internal controls, identify risks, and recommend improvements.

Financial Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with IFRS, tax laws, and internal company policies.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments and inform the business accordingly.
• Support the preparation of statutory financial statements.
• Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails for all tax-related transactions.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Experience working with regulatory bodies such as FIRS, LIRS, and state revenue services.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, IFRS, and internal control systems.
• Professional certifications (e.g. ACA, ACCA, ICAN) – mandatory.
• Minimum of 6–8 years relevant experience in tax and audit functions.

Key Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Sage, QuickBooks, SAP).
• Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Attributes:

• Experience in a consulting/audit firm is an added advantage.
• Ability to work independently and lead audit or tax-related projects.
• Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
