Travel Agent Requirements, Skills & Qualifications

The following common skills and qualifications are required of a Travel Agent:

  • Degree in Hospitality, Travel, Tourism, Business or relevant field
  • x years of experience as a Travel Consultant or similar role
  • Passionate about travel and tourism
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good time-management skills
  • Candidates with personal experience in travelling will have an advantage
  • Proficiency in English
  • Knowledge of additional languages is an advantage
  • Good sales skills and customer oriented approach
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
  • Team player
  • Excellent knowledge about latest tourism trends
  • Good understanding on different tourism offerings and options
  • Good knowledge of travel software
