Immigration Officer Duties & Responsibilities

The role and function of an Immigration Officer includes the following duties and responsibilities:

Interviewing the passenger for more information
Observing passengers passing through passport control areas
Examining passports and visas
Arranging for them to go back to their point of departure
Carrying out intelligence-based activities
Organising a place in a holding area (for example, when a person is claiming asylum).
Organising surveillance
Visiting and interviewing people who are suspected of having no right to remain in a particular country.
Writing reports
